Severe Depression

Severe Depression Video

At its worst, depression is severe depression.  Until it's so severe that months or even years of treatment are required, most people do nothing about it.  Depression of sime type afflicts 15 million people in the USA annually.  The sad fact is that only one third of those suffering this disease will ever seek medical attention.  Historic stereotypes of the wild eyed insane hermit wandering the streets motivate people to try to cover up their problem.  The problem is that Sever Depression will not be wished away.  The condition gets worse and those afflicted will lose control.

Many sufferers won't admit they show the signs of this condition.  Severe Depression is no reflection on you as a human being.  You are not less of a person.  Depression is a real medical condition.  Medical care is needed.  When it becomes severe depression the symptoms become even worse.  The illness and its effects get much much worse.  Social situations and work become more difficult.  Negative feelings intensify to make you a total loner.  This illness cannot be prevented.  But it can be addressed.  It's vital to detect it early.

Diagnosis and treatment require an expert eye to notice the signs of depression.  There are many different symptoms that are identified with depression.  A transparent one is that the sufferer will withdraw into themselves.  They find it hard to deal with those around them.  It is too difficult to deal with negative feelings such as guilt and helplessness.  They always seem angry and short tempered.  In the severest of cases those suffering from this disease may feel that they hear voices or believe they have received visits from the devil.  Severe depression sufferers often turn to suicide to stop their ordeal.  Those affected by this illness need the support of those around them and treatment that will give them confidence once again.

Severe depression is terrible.  Those who suffer it cannot live normal lives, as they once knew it.  Losing the ability to control your own life is terrible.  Treatment is the only option.  Typically, anti-depressants and 'talk therapy' are prescribed to treat depression.  Support groups can also help.  Once victims seek treatment they can be put on the road to a better life.  It's very possible to regain control over their lives.  But first the illness must be admitted and treatment sought.
